Cap Cana – Dominican Republic
Expanding a domestic manufacturer into international markets.
Problem
Cap Cana, a massive and exclusive resort development on the eastern shores of the Dominican Republic, needed to scale infrastructure imports rapidly while preparing remote, jungle land for construction. Millions of dollars in pipes, fittings, and related infrastructure were required, but the developers needed significant credit to finance the purchases and move quickly.
Solution
To meet the tight timeline, CARICAP arranged export trade financing insured by Ex-Im Bank and financed through First American Bank, CARICAP acted quickly and dependably, showcasing it’s problem solving capabilities in both the piping and financing field to deliver the required materials in a project of this scale.
Outcome
Cap Cana emerged as a world-class destination featuring a beachfront resort, an award-winning golf course, and a state-of-the-art marina. The successful execution of this complex project helped establish CARICAP’s reputation as a trusted partner for large-scale infrastructure developments across the Caribbean.
Lasco Fittings – Brownsville, Tennessee
Expanding a domestic manufacturer into international markets.
Problem
Lasco Fittings, now Westlake Pipe, was a U.S. manufacturer selling only to domestic clients, with no visibility as to where their exports were ultimately being delivered. Despite being very interested in exporting to international markets, Lasco lacked an export plan or department and had no direct path to Latin American customers.
Solution
CARICAP provided Lasco with a ready list of potential clients and a strategy to sell directly to pipe manufacturers and regional warehouses across Latin America and the Caribbean. Acting as Lasco’s commissioned export representative, CARICAP built relationships, developed an export plan, and managed the sales process from prospecting to delivery.
Outcome
Today, Lasco (now Westlake) sells directly to international customers, with CARICAP continuing to serve as their export representative and, in some markets, as a favored distributor. This partnership opened a profitable new channels and transformed Lasco’s once-domestic business into a thriving international operation.
SAGUAPAC – Santa Cruz, Bolivia
Pioneering a new approach to sewer rehabilitation.
Problem
In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, large-diameter concrete sewer lines beneath major avenues were collapsing as hydrogen sulfide gas (H₂S) corroded the concrete. The city’s water authority, SAGUAPAC, faced an urgent infrastructure crisis and needed a long-term fix that could withstand harsh conditions.
Solution
CARICAP introduced a thermoforming relining technology capable of reinforcing the failing sewer pipes without full replacement. Affordable and quick to deploy, the approach—never before attempted at such a large scale—enabled the installation of thermoplastic liners inside existing pipes, creating a durable, corrosion-resistant structure while minimizing disruption to the city.
Outcome
The project stabilized critical sewer lines while saving both time and cost compared to traditional and expensive dig and replace. SAGUAPAC embraced the technology and plans to continue using it for future system upgrades, setting a new, cost-effective standard for sewer rehabilitation in Bolivia.
